Tomorrow is the first day of school for my boys. I’ve wanted to make a bento box lunch for ages, so I figured this year would be a great time to start.
For my son Michael I prepared a salmon ceviche (recipe coming soon) with crackers, turkey pepperoni with mozzarella cheese on sword tooth-pick what-cha-ma-call-its, apple slices, strawberries and pineapple, celery sticks, with muenster cheese cut into a bear shape, and three mini-chocolate chip cookies.

Tomorrow is Evan’s first day of pre-kindergarten. He’s never gone to daycare or preschool, so for his first school lunch I made him a peanut butter sandwich cut into the shape of an airplane. Belatedly I realized that he might not like the crunchy peanut butter I had on hand, so I included a ham and cheese sandwich shaped like a race car. His fruit includes apple slices and strawberries and pineapple. He’s also got some carrot and celery sticks and bear shaped cheese. For desert he also has two mini chocolate chip cookies.
