Traveling In Style

In a few weeks I’m going to be boarding a few planes and facing a very long flight to Italy. I’m so totally over the moon ecstatic for this trip because it marks the next big adventure in my family’s life. I’m such a dork I’ve been giving my travel day wardrobe some serious thought.

My first instinct was to go with leggings. I wear them almost every day under dresses, tunics, or over-sized mens t-shirts and button downs etc. I prefer leggings over yoga pants or sweats because a Mom can look totally chic and still be comfortable when dressed in leggings and a tunic all year round. I’m facing a long travel day that includes a commercial flight and a military rotator. That means I could be in for a serious wait in airports as well as the 13 or so hour (give or take) flight schedule. I needed a fabric that would hold up to so many hours of wear as I do not like the “slept in” look. Enter this gorgeous Cynthina Rowley dress. In my favorite color – gray! It’s got this amazing detail on the arms; they’re buttoned and one can spy just a hint of flesh-enough to make it edgy but still be classy. I first spied it a few weeks ago at TJ Maxx but didn’t want to fork over the cash because I’m thrifty like that. Today the fashion gods smiled on me because this lovely little girl was on clearance for $20! Halleluiah!  I’m paring it with black leggings, Steve Madden Troopa boots and a grey vintage leather jacket. I’ll accessorize with a JCrew crystal necklace and silver bracelet. I’m sure this will become one of my favorite outfits to wear as the weather in Italy is still quite chilly and judging by weather records will remain so (by Miami standards) for some time.

So I’ve totally changed my mind. Found a slouchy oversize CK sweater that had me at slouchy and I decided to return the dress -mostly because I already have a grey dress w/ similar lines and knew I’d use the sweater way more. Potential outfit is in the works. xo
