Green Superhero Juice-Recipe

I’ve begun juicing. After viewing the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead and reading several articles about the crap that’s in certain beverages my kids love to drink-and for the added health benefits of yours truly it was inevitable.

It’s actually something I’ve wanted to do for ages…My mom would make us fresh fruit juice growing up and it is really just lovely! I wanted to do the same for my boys too. They just adore going to Jamba Juice and now I can (and have) make their favorite smoothies and juices at home.

Here is one of the first juice recipes I concocted. It’s a green juice-please don’t let the color discourage you from giving this a swirl on your palate. My boys (notoriously picky) really enjoyed this juice. They laughed and looked at me like I’d finally lost my mind when they saw the color. Before they could run for the hills I told them it was the superhero juice. They then drank two glasses of it in one sitting. It is..superhero juice…when you think about it!

I made about 1 1/2 quarts of this. I make it in fairly large batches cause it’s for the kiddos and me. This recipe can definitely be reduced for a single serving etc.

To make this green juice you’ll need:

Kale 1 bunch
Spinach 1 bunch
Apples (I used organic) about 8 small kept the skins on since they were organic apples
2 pears
15 large strawberries
ginger -this is optional and it does give it a bit of a kick. I used a piece about an inch long.

Is A Re-Wedding in My Future?

My husband and I were chit chatting the other day about having a re-wedding (my term for a reaffirmation ceremony), when he’s completed his two year stint over-seas. At first I was all over the idea. What girl doesn’t love to plan a wedding? I know this girl certainly does. A sweet, simple renewal ceremony would be lovely-followed by a kick-ass second honeymoon-with the kids of course sounded absolutely divine to me.

The idea of reaffirming our vows is something we’ve always said we ‘d do. I think as a couple it’s important to remember the promises we made to each-other and to celebrate those promises and the love that has now grown to now encompass two children. The idea of a small Church service followed by a quaint dinner-then the vacay is what I had in mind.

Then…then I saw this picture!

Aside from pink-gray and green are my absolute favorite colors. A beautiful shade of hunter green was the center of our wedding nearly ten years ago, so including a shade of green would be nice and I prefer to wear gray over any other color. The thought of planning a party around these two colors is well, almost too tempting. I’m going to mull this over in my brain-and really think if a re-wedding is something in our foreseeable future. I mean…can you imagine a vintage inspired gown in the palest of grays on me? Against my skin tone? Oh..my…gosh! I would totally R.O.C.K. it!

Breathe…Nicóle…Breathe. Oh boy! My cheeks are flushed. Could I do this? Could I keep the guest list under 100 people? Under fifty people would be ideal-but totally and completely un-realistic. I think. Oh boy. I think I can!

love and weddings,
